Project idea: Reinventing Grandma’s Hutch

If your local Marketplace, and other classified ads are like ours, hutches and china cabinets are readily available. Hutches are heavy, bulky and difficult to move. When a person wants that hutch gone, they want it gone NOW. Quite often, they fail to see the potential behind Grandma’s hutch. Their loss is your gain!

We’ve talked about reinventing, repurposing, and just simply painting hutches in earlier posts. We decided to revisit this topic.

A hutch transformation project can chase away the Winter blues, especially when you pick a fun and daring hue to propel you out of those Winter blahs and into Spring!

We did a quick search of our local classified ads, and found three hutches within a few miles of us with a price range of $50 to $100, AND that’s before negotiating your best deal!

We are not in the business of painting furniture, so that area would require you to do some research on prepping and painting your piece. The internet has a wealth of information on that topic. We’ve included a few images of hutches ready to buy and transform on our local Marketplace, as well as a sampling of some fantastic transformation ideas.

Enjoy!

(We do not own these images.)
